Sir M Vishweshwaraya Institute of Technology Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust founded Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, Bangalore was established in the year 1986. The institute has been ranked No. 1 among the engineering colleges in the State by the reputed magazine 'Dataquest'. The University declared Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Department of Biotechnology as R&D centers. In each department there is a seminar hall with modern facilities. The college provides a central library that has 45,553 volumes, 13,125 titles of books, about 950 back volumes of scientific and technical journals, 268 video cassettes, and 1050 CD/DVD's. The college has a very active placement cell. The college has a Outdoor Sports Complex, spread over 30 acres, comprising of stadium for Cricket, Soccer, Hockey, Tennis and Volley Ball courts and an Athletic track. The college also provides Indoor Games Complex, having facilities for Shuttle Badminton, Table Tennis and other indoor games, a well-equipped Gymnasium.
